Indoor Fireworks

Like many artists, the world over, 2020 has been a year to down tools as far as live performances go and it has halted many studio projects too. All too often though, the need to create has not halted, in fact, the need to create has become more important in these strange times.

This collection of demo recordings were made by Scott Wainwright in May 2020 and were recorded onto a various devices including, a mobile phone, laptop and a primitive Sony Cassette Recorder to document songs for a forthcoming Solo album, a Duo album with fellow artist Chris Martin and another future collaborative project.

Whenever a spare moment presented itself, or a new musical idea appeared, Scott would sit down and attempt to capture the moment. Using various guitars, ukulele, voice, harmonica, stomp-box, percussion, guitar effect pedals and keyboards, ideas were worked up quickly and most of these songs and pieces were first takes. Some of the songs are a regular feature of Scott’s live set, though some are not and a few were worked on during this period of isolation.

There are versions of live favourites ‘Rolling Down the Road’ and ‘The Weekender’ alongside unheard material for other projects like the song ‘Tokyo’ and ‘The World on Over’.

This was not meant as commercial product, but as a mere audio and historical document of this period of time. The Cassette version of a number of tracks is to been auctioned off to raise funds for Scott’s future studio projects.

The audio, though still very primitive and very obviously recorded without any decent microphones has been cleaned up by studio maestro, Phil Snell at his home based Limbo Studio.
